Chupyâ Bârba

The 14th-century square tower of Chupyâ Bârba (“beard burner” in patois) was rebuilt in around 1440. At its base is an infantry fort constructed in 1943, a remnant of the defences from the Second World War. It is one of the 20 elements of Gruyères' defence structures on the Intyamon gorge.
